Runtime inputs, not a magic number

A credible estimate starts with output load in watts, load power factor where applicable, battery configuration, ambient temperature, battery age assumption and the point in life at which runtime must still be met.

These fields start a technical conversation; they do not calculate or guarantee runtime in the browser.

Five checks around the estimate

  1. Electrical fit: input/output voltage, phase, 50/60 Hz and bypass source.
  2. Load behavior: steady kW, inrush, crest factor and nonlinear content.
  3. Architecture: double-conversion, line-interactive or other topology matched to the disturbance profile.
  4. Environment: temperature, altitude, ventilation and service clearances.
  5. Lifecycle: battery inspection, replacement interval and disposal responsibilities.

Limits are explicit: hotter rooms shorten expected battery life; conservative derating may increase footprint and initial cost; generator-fed systems can require additional harmonic and step-load analysis.

Typical support cases

Legacy replacement

Background: a facility has an installed UPS with incomplete accessory records. Process: capture nameplate, battery, bypass, network and dimensional interfaces, then mark every unverified item. Result: procurement receives a substitution checklist rather than an assumed drop-in claim.

Capacity expansion

Background: a computing room expects phased load growth. Process: compare present and forecast kW, redundancy goals, module increments and upstream capacity. Result: the quote separates initial modules, future provisions and conditions that trigger a distribution review.

Delivery recovery

Background: the required model conflicts with the construction schedule. Process: review acceptable electrical and physical alternatives without hiding firmware, connector or certification differences. Result: the team can approve a documented alternative or retain the original scope.

Release credentials

The final package can include the series datasheet, dimensional drawing, manual, battery information, accessory schedule and applicable UL, CE, IEC or RoHS evidence where the selected product and destination support it. Availability and certification remain series-specific.
